Asana vs Notion pricing
Both of these are in Project management, and we read both pricing pages the same way, with the same reader. Everything below is what each page printed on the day we read it. Both pages read on 1 Sept 2026.
We check each page about once a day, so this is a daily reading, not a live feed. Prices are copied as printed, never converted and never averaged.
The two pages
Tier by tier
Rows are lined up by position on each page, not by tier name, because the names never match across two vendors. Row 1 is the top tier on each page, row 2 the one under it. Where one page has fewer tiers than the other, the row is left blank rather than paired with something it is not.
- Row 1AsanaPersonalFreeNotionFree$0/member/month

The entry tier
Notion is the cheaper of the two at the entry tier: $10/member/month on Plus, against $13.49/user/mo on Starter. That is $3.49 less, 26 percent below Asana.
Both figures are charged per person, per month, so they are like for like. This is the cheapest paid monthly tier we can read on each page. Free tiers, quoted tiers and per-unit rates are left out, because none of those is a figure you can put next to another company's figure.

Asana23 Aug 2026Asana shifts CTA messaging from 'Sign up' to 'Try for free' across all paid tiers to emphasize trial-first conversion model
Asana18 Aug 2026Asana shifts CTA messaging from 'Sign up' to 'Try for free' across all paid tiers to emphasize trial-first conversion model Why it matters: • Asana is explicitly repositioning around free trial friction reduction, signaling confidence in conversion velocity and reducing signup friction as a competitive lever • The 'Try for free' framing lowers perceived commitment barriers on Starter and Advanced tiers, suggesting Asana sees trial-to-paid conversion as stronger than direct purchase intent • This messaging shift indicates Asana believes competitors may be losing deals due to signup hesitation-worth testing similar language in your own CTAs Call-to-Action Messaging: - Personal tier CTA changed from 'Sign up' to 'Try for free' - Starter tier CTA changed from 'Sign up' to 'Try for free' - Advanced tier CTA changed from 'Sign up' to 'Try for free' - 'Purchase now' buttons remain unchanged, but trial messaging now precedes them What to do: • Audit your own pricing page CTAs-test whether 'Try for free' or similar trial-forward language outperforms direct 'Sign up' on mid-tier plans where Asana is making this shift • Investigate Asana's trial duration and paywall strategy; if they've extended trial windows or relaxed feature gates, your trial UX may need competitive parity review • Monitor Asana's conversion funnel metrics over next 2-3 quarters via public earnings/usage data to validate whether this messaging shift drives material uplift in mid-market adoption
Notion removes live chat widget from pricing page
Notion15 Aug 2026Notion removes live chat widget from pricing page Why it matters: • Reduces direct contact friction for pricing inquiries-sales conversations may now route through contact form or demo requests instead • Suggests Notion may be optimizing support cost structure or shifting sales motion for enterprise deals Positioning: - Removed live chat widget from pricing page (previously featured Notion chat avatar) - Direct messaging capability no longer prominently available at point of purchase consideration What to do: • Monitor whether Notion redirects pricing inquiries through alternative contact channels (form, calendar links, or dedicated sales email) • Assess if this signals a shift in Notion's sales strategy-could indicate they're concentrating support on higher-value deals or reducing real-time support overhead
Asana changes pricing page CTA from 'Try for free' to 'Sign up' across all tiers
Asana15 Aug 2026Asana changes pricing page CTA from 'Try for free' to 'Sign up' across all tiers Why it matters: • Reframing reduces emphasis on free trial experience, subtly positioning paid plans as primary conversion path • Copy shift may indicate focus on capturing leads faster rather than maximizing trial-to-paid conversion rates Positioning: - Changed primary CTA language from 'Try for free' to 'Sign up' on Personal, Starter, and Advanced plan cards - Maintains 'Purchase' button alongside 'Sign up' for Starter and Advanced tiers What to do: • Monitor Asana's trial-to-paid conversion metrics over next quarter to assess if softer CTA impacts their funnel performance • Assess whether your own free trial messaging is optimally balancing exploration vs. conversion intent
